The scene of the accident this morning where a female cyclist was killed following a collision with an articulated truck on Rutland Street

A CYCLIST has been killed in a collision with a truck in Limerick city.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was killed in the collision with an articulated truck at the junction of Rutland Street, Fr. Matthew Bridge and Charlotte’s Quay at 7.30am this Wednesday morning.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem examination will take place. The cyclist was trapped under the truck in the incident.

The driver of the truck was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The roadway in the area, which is close to The Hunt Museum, is closed and diversions are in place. Gardai are investigating the incident. Several units of Limerick Fire Service attended the scene this morning.
