WELL known Limerick hotelier and businessman Dick Fitzgerald has passed away following a short illness.

Mr Fitzgerald and his wife Mary opened a four bedroom guesthouse in Adare back in 1983, which they have since transformed into the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, an 89 bedroom facility that is hugely popular for weddings and conferences.

The business remains very much a family affair with sons David working as General Manager of the Adare hotel and Conor as Development Manager for the Fitzgerald Group. Daughter Elaina works as Sales Director.

The Vienna Woods Hotel in Glanmire is also part of the group.

Dick, along with wife Mary, had a very hands on approach in running the hotel and greeting guests and he was very popular.

He was a big GAA fan and was a regular to county and local matches and revelled in son Conor playing both senior hurling and football for the county.

He is survived by wife Mary, sons David, Conor and Richard and daughter Elaina.

Reposing at his home on Thursday from 2pm to 8pm. Arriving for Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am at the Holy Trinity Abbey Church, Adare. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Irish Heart Foundation & TLC4CF.
