A LOCAL landscaper’s green fingers had the winning touch at the prestigious Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland (ALCI) Awards.

Cathal McKeogh, a landscape contractor based in Clonmacken, Ennis Road, received the award in Newcastle, Co. Down recently, in the category ‘Private Gardens €10,000 - €30,000’ for his beautifully landscaped garden in Ballina, Co. Tipperary, which covers a quarter acre.

The clients, Caroline and John Rice, said they wanted “a clean, contemporary landscaping design which complemented the architecture of the house” overlooking Lough Derg.

The ALCI Awards recognise the excellent standard of landscaping and garden design achieved by landscaping contractors in Ireland. The judges were impressed with McKeogh Landscapes’ creation and commented that the overall scheme complemented and enhanced the house, with an excellent choice of planting.

“We are absolutely delighted to have received this award. Our focus and commitment is on creative design and quality construction and service. We believe our gardens stand the test of time, and this one is no exception. It’s also very satisfying to see a project coming to fruition such as the winning garden in Ballina and we work closely with clients to achieve what they are looking for,” said Mr McKeogh, who started the business six years ago.

The judging was carried out by independent landscaping experts who judged entries from all around the country.
