Collins calls for reversal of cuts to home help

Fianna Fail TD Niall Collins has called on Government TDs in Limerick to “put aside party politics and put pressure” on the Minister for Health to reverse cuts to home help hours in Limerick.

Fianna Fail TD Niall Collins has called on Government TDs in Limerick to “put aside party politics and put pressure” on the Minister for Health to reverse cuts to home help hours in Limerick.

“Last week in the Dáil, Fianna Fáil raised the plight of many elderly people in receipt of home help assistance that have had their hours slashed or taken away completely,” said Deputy Collins.
“I have had contact with many Limerick families that have been devastated by these cuts and they see no sense whatsoever in cruelly reducing and ending the home help assistance hours,” he added.

Deputy Collins said that a continuation of cuts would see many people forced into the Mid-West Regional Hospital or long stay care, placing a major burden on an already overcrowded health system. “These cuts are something Limerick families are finding hard to stomach,” he added.
