Fire at Limerick’s University Hospital causes evacuation

PATIENTS and members of public had to be evacuated from University Hospital Limerick this Sunday evening when a fire broke out shortly after 6pm.

PATIENTS and members of public had to be evacuated from University Hospital Limerick this Sunday evening when a fire broke out shortly after 6pm.

Smoke was seen billowing from a plant room at the rear of the building, which is close to the paediatric unit and a laboratory in the hospital.

Three units of Limerick Fire Service attended the scene as the public were asked to vacate the building immediately.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the hospital hope that everything will be back to normal later tonight.
