His death has left the entire parish of Doon shocked and saddened. The McLoughlins are very popular in the locality and well-known in coursing circles with countless winning cups to their name.
Timmy Ryan, of Doon Coursing Club, summed up the feelings in the area when he said: “We are all devastated.”
The crash occurred between a truck and a car less than a mile away from the family home in Cooga. Shane was the sole occupant of the car.
A moving tribute from Tom Hehir was posted on the Leader’s Facebook site.
“A sad goodbye to my friend and colleague who was so was so full of life and who shared my love of greyhounds. You made the nights working together short with your chat. RIP buddy.”
May he rest in peace.
