RESIDENTS and businesses in Our Lady of Lourdes parish have welcomed the publication of a new booklet containing details and contact information for the various services in the local community.
A large crowd attended the launch of the Our Lady of Lourdes Services Directory at the Sit N’ Sip cafe at the West End Youth centre in Ballinacurra Weston.
The booklet, which was collated and compiled over the past few months by UL student Sinead Beirne, features details of the various voluntary, community, religious and sporting organisations as well as information regarding state agencies and schools which have a presence in the parish.
“We are thrilled that the services guide had been completed and I just hope that people will find it useful and that it will be of use to local people to access these services should the need arise” said Ann Bourke, who coordinated the project.
Ms Beirne, who is a second year student at the University of Limerick, said it was a great experience working on the project.
“I really enjoyed working on collating the guide and I would like to thank the various organisations for their help and support over the past few months. Everyone involved hopes the directory will be a useful resource for locals to have in their home or office,” she said.
Ms Beirne collated the booklet as part of a work placement programme at the Community Development Project (CDP) at Our Lady of Lourdes. In addition to getting support from the various organisations in the parish, pupils from Our Lady of Lourdes primary school also played their part in the booklet as pupils from sixth class provided the designs which feature on the cover the directory.
The Our Lady of Lourdes Services Directory is available to buy for €2 with proceeds going towards the development of facilities in the local community.
