THE BROADFORD Community Council have been granted permission by Limerick County Council to construct a long-awaited playground in the West Limerick village.
The plans for the community field near the village sports complex at Tullaha were approved last week, and construction is expected to commence in the next two weeks.
The playground is expected to cost in the region of €180,000 and will receive 75% funding from West Limerick Resources under the rural development programme.
The project has been spearheaded by a voluntary playground committee.
Broadford has a long-established tradition of community-led development, with projects such as the local creche, housing scheme and community enterprise centre all coming to fruition thanks to the work of the local development association and other committees.
