ATTENDEES at the Limerick Chamber president’s dinner raised €5,000 for the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation.

At the event, which took place at the Strand Hotel last month, a raffle took place.

And generous business people from across the region responded to the call to raise money for the foundation, which exists to provide holistic care for cancer patients region-wide.

Accepting the cheque, Prof Rajnish Gupta said: “Valuable donations like this help the foundation to support the services we provide to patients both directly and indirectly; for instance, to fund equipment or research projects in UL where intervention treatments are being studied and more recently, although not desirable, to pay for staff critical to our care programme due to budget shortages.”

He paid tribute to Limerick Chamber president Gordon Kearney for choosing the foundation as its recipient charity this year, as well as guests who donated so generously.

“It will make a difference to the lives of those who are impacted by cancer,” he concluded.
