THE funeral arrangements have been announced for Liam Fitzpatrick, who lost his life in a road accident outside Bruff on Sunday evening.

Mr Fitzpatrick, who resided in Kilfinane, will be reposing at his mother Eileen’s residence in Knocklong this Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm.

The funeral Mass will take place at Knocklong church on Wednesday at 11.30am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The father-of-two died after his motorbike collided with a wall at Kilballyowen, on the Knockainey road, just outside Bruff, shortly after 5pm on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours to facilitate a forensic collision examination.

“Liam was very well-known and very well liked. He was a gentleman, a very decent fella who would always have a smile and a chat with you,” said Senator James Heffernan from Kilfinane.

“He had a shop in Hospital for many years specialising in water pumps. He would also have been very well-known in farming circles,” added Senator Heffernan.

Mr Fitzpatrick is survived by his daughters Michelle and Sarah, their mother Triona, mother Eileen, five sisters and Jackie, his partner.
