Thirty-three year old talented Limerick photographer Alan Place has won third place in the portrait section at the AIB Press Photographers awards.

Thirty-three year old talented Limerick photographer Alan Place has won third place in the portrait section at the AIB Press Photographers awards.

Thousands of entries from photographers around the country were submitted with just 127 chosen for the submissions which will tour the country later in the year,

Alan, from Shannon Banks, Corbally started work as a photographer with Limerick-based national photographic agency Press 22, when he left school, and returned last year to work for them after spending five years in Australia. He won his prize for his portrait of musician Roy Harper.

“We at Press 22 are all deeply proud of Alan Place and his achievement in winning at award at the AIB Press Photographers event.

“He is a very, very talented young photographer with a very bright future,” said the agency’s chief photographer, Liam Burke.

Also recognised at the awards were Alan’s colleagues at Press 22 Sean Curtin and Brian Arthur, who had pictures shortlisted.
