Tobacco seized by Revenue in Limerick city

Nearly 46 kgs of roll-your-own tobacco was seized in a Revenue operation in Limerick city

The seizure of 46 kgs of roll-your-own tobacco was made at a private residence and a storage facility in the city and comes on foot of a similar seizure in Shannon Airport last Thursday.

In that incident, some 18kgs of tobacco was seized.

Search warrants were executed at the locations yesterday and officers seized the tobacco with brands including ‘Flandria’, ‘Golden Virginia’, ‘Amber Leaf’, ‘Samson’ and ‘Cutters Choice’.

An Irish male in his 30’s was questioned by Revenue officials and the investigation is on going.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s on-going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy.
