Twenty Presentation Secondary School students head for Brussels this week for the trip of a lifetime.

The school’s transition year students entered a competition to design a website for the European Parliament and to their delight they finished runners up in the national competition.

The competition was part of the EU’s Euroscholar Programme. The school’s Head of German, Mary Kavanagh and Head of French, Denise Duggan entered the school in the competition and will accompany the girls on their three day trip to the EU houses of parliament in Brussels.

The trip is sponsored by MEP for the South, Phil Prendergast. Labour’s Ms Prendergast was delighted to be able to sponsor the girls’ journey to the epicentre of EU politics.

The girls, who return on Friday morning, will be given a guided tour of the European Parliament. They will also be given the opportunity to sit in on parliamentary debates and gain a closer appreciation for the legislative process. They will also have dinner with a number of MEPs and be able to discuss policy areas close to their own hearts.

The girls are incredibly appreciative of their once in a lifetime opportunity and wish to thank Ms Prendergast for making it possible.
