The Mary Immaculate College Foundation was officially launched in New York on Friday, October 12 by Mary Immaculate President Prof Michael A Hayes.

The Mary Immaculate College Foundation is an independent charity which was established in 2005 to further develop the amenities and facilities of MIC.

The launch took place in the Metropolitan Club on 5th Avenue and amongst the guests were several bishops and members of the clergy as well as lecturers from New York Universities.

During his speech at the launch Prof Hayes also took the time to invite all those present to visit the college as part of The Gathering 2013 initiative by announcing details of the role which Mary I will play in the event.

Prof Hayes stated that: “I am very pleased to be the first President of an Irish third-level institution to announce that we plan to host a very special event in Ireland in 2013,” he said.

“We at Mary Immaculate College look forward to inviting back many of our Alumni and friends from around the world to visit our state-of-the-art campus and to explore old connections,” he explained.

“For us, it will be an opportunity to showcase the things we are most proud of to people we know overseas by inviting them to see our work for themselves,” said Prof Hayes.

The president also added that they hope to set up and connect more branches of their Alumni Association in coming years. “We may be a small college but our graduates have put down roots all over the world. We look forward to setting up and connecting branches of our Alumni Association across America in the future,” said Prof Hayes.
