THE Richard Harris Film Festival, returning again after a successful debut outing last year, has issued a call for entries for a short film competition.

The festival in honour of Limerick’s famous son will run the film competition in association with the Newport Beach Film Festival, taking place in April next year.

The winning films will be considered for screening at the American festival, which has the largest shorts program within a major film festival in the United States.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Irish filmmakers to screen their film in the heartland of the American film industry in one of the most prestigious film festivals in North America,” said a spokesperson for the Richard Harris festival, which takes place in the city from October 24-26.

“We are extremely proud to be able to offer this fantastic and unique opportunity to Irish filmmakers,” added the spokesperson.

Short films of no more than 15 minutes, will be considered. See www.richardharrisfilmfestival.com for more details on how to enter.
