SHORT films from Germany and Spain have been selected as the best in the world following a public vote in Limerick.

The Tres Court (very short) international film festival was held in 69 O’Connell Street, the former Belltable Arts Centre in recent weeks, under the Alliance Francaise in Limerick.

Over 200 viewers attending the screenings of 44 short films, along with some 300 pupils from Crescent Comprehensive College, Villiers School, Castletroy College and Salesian’s School in Pallaskenry.

The public were invited to take part and vote to choose the best short movie, with the vote taking place simultaneously in more than 20 countries around the world.

The film Despierta, by Christian Aviles of Spain, won first prize, while the public vote went to the film Wind by Robert Lobel of Germany.
