RACING Metro have taken just 200 of their available 4,500-plus ticket allocation for the clash with Munster in Thomond Park on January 20, likely Limerick’s last Heineken Cup action of the season.

Munster Rugby confirmed the low take-up from the French Top 14 side for the final pool clash of the season, which takes place on Sunday week, with a 12.45pm kick off in Thomond Park.

The ERC’s scheduling will hardly be welcome news to those in the local economy who rely on the revenue generated from big matches in Thomond Park, while the absence of travelling fans is a similar concern for hoteliers, pubs and restaurants in the area.

However, the news is good for Munster fans who may yet get to see the team’s European hopes go down to the wire of the final match, with the province likely needing to beat the high-flying French side by four tries to make the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup this season.

Tickets will thus be plentiful for the Racing game, one which takes place after this Sunday’s Scottish encounter with Edinburgh, a game that also features a 12.45pm kick off, and fans could yet see another of Munster’s ‘miracle matches’ on the hallowed turf of Thomond Park. For those feeling a bit flush in the aftermath of Christmas, Munster Rugby are circulating a price list for the corporate areas in Thomond Park, at different price levels and up to a maximum of €4,125 for an executive box for 15 people, with a three course meal and wine for six people.

Adjusting slightly for inflation, prices for the corporate areas in Thomond Park have remained constant for Heineken Cup games, with companies also given the option of dining in the Thomond Suite - €2,900 for a table of ten people, including a three course meal, four bottles of wine and Category A match tickets - or the top of the range executive boxes in the stadium.

The price for the box only is €1,500, which includes use of the box for two hours post match, three complimentary parking spaces in LIT and the option of catering at an extra cost.
