THE horses stole the show but there was lots of hair envy at Limerick Racecourse too!

All eyes were on Michelle Lenahan’s bouncy balayage hairdo when she walked away with the title of Best Tressed on Ladies Day at Limerick Racecourse.

And the Castletroy girl had extra reason to celebrate – it was also her 25th birthday!

“A bus carrying 15 of us went out for my birthday – guys and girls. All the girls I was with entered the best dressed so we got a couple of photos taken and we had a bit of a laugh – it was a good day out,” said Michelle who was also accompanied on the day by her boyfriend Diarmuid McCarthy from Glenroe.

Michelle’s hairstyle is the en vogue balayage style which is quite dark at the roots, with sun-kissed ends.

“I got it coloured a few weeks ago in Peter Marks, I got the balayage done. I have naturally brown hair so I got it blondy down at the ends and then I got it blow-dried in Bellissmo in Limerick that morning,” continued Michelle who works in IBRC bank.

“It was basically a curly blow-dry with a bit of volume in it. I wore a black headpiece. I would be conscious of keeping my hair in good condition,” she added.

Michelle will receive a year’s supply of Herbal Essences products and a VIP appointment with top hair stylist, Dylan Bradshaw.

Meanwhile, Muriel Callaghan from Ballinalee, Co Longford, was the winner of the Limerick Racecourse Best Dressed competition which also took place on Friday.

The judging panel who selected the 40 finalists included Bairbre Power, fashion editor of The Irish Independent, fashion designer Marion Murphy Cooney and milliner Aisling Maher.
