Limerick Lawn appoint new manager and elect president

Limerick Lawn Tennis Club has appointed a new manager to oversee its operation, while a new president has also been elected in recent weeks.
Emer Dillon has been appointed manager while Kevin Ryan is the newly elected president of the Ennis Road club.
Ms Dillon took on the role before Christmas and has overall responsibility for the management and development of the Lawn’s facilities and services.
She has been tasked with growing membership and attracting new business to the club, which is carrying sizeable debts as a result of extensive renovation works carried out in recent years.
Ms Dillon, who is from Limerick, previously held duty management positions in the Strand Hotel and has extensive experience in the hospitality trade, working in hotels in Galway, Dublin and Canada.
The new manager was welcomed to her role by newly elected president Kevin Ryan, who recently retired from UL where he was director of the Lero research centre.
“With Emer’s appointment Limerick Lawn is now positioned to build for the future by growing our membership, improving our facilities and by offering new services to our members,” he said.
Mr Ryan, a keen tennis player, is hoping new members will join the facility.
“Tennis is a great family game, plus there is a great social side to the game here,” he explained.
Limerick Lawn was founded in 1887 and is the oldest tennis club in Ireland and Britain. The annual South of Ireland tournament it hosts, which started life as a ladies tournament, pre-dates Wimbledon.
