Care provider to expand services in Limerick

PLANNING permission is being sought for the construction of a centre of excellence for care and education - including 11 residential units - on the site of the Microtherm factory in Bruff.
It is anticipated that the enterprise will provide employment for 20 people.
RCCN Caring Ltd (Rural Community Care Network) now known as CareBright have lodged an application with Limerick County Council for the demolition of the existing Microtherm factory unit at Ardykeohane and for the construction of a centre of excellence for care and education including a community day care centre and 11 self contained residential units for independent living.
CareBright is a long established Irish home-care provider. The non-profit organisation focuses on caring for and supporting people to live independently in their own homes. They have been providing services in Munster since 1998. They provide care for the elderly, people with disabilities, post surgery, people who require specialised services, companionship or general support in the home.
“It is envisaged that the centre for excellence in care and education will provide a model of care to the community that is currently not available in the Mid West,” said Colette Ryan. general manager, CareBright, Knockainey Road in Hospital.
CareBright also has offices in Newcastle West, Charleville and Southill in the city.
“Many older people want to remain in their own homes leading independent and active lives in their community. Adequate supports are required to meet this need; we believe that there is a requirement for a centre of excellence in care and education in this community,” Ms Ryan added.
CareBright are a leading employer in the Mid West region providing employment in both rural and urban areas, including West Limerick, East limerick, Limerick city, North Tipperary and Cork.
“We would envisage that this centre of excellence will provide additional employment for 20 people. This proposed centre would not have come to fruition without a donation from the JP McManus Pro-Am Fund,” Ms Ryan continued.
CareBright was formerly known as RCCN (Rural Community Care Network). Due to the fact that their service is not exclusively rural - they provide care in towns and cities - they decided to change their name to CareBright. They have a team of approximately 250 carers, managed and supported by a team of six care managers who are all qualified nurses with many years experience.
The care managers work closely with carers, clients, families, public health and community nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, GPs and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure person-centred care is delivered in the home. All their staff are garda vetted, trained and accredited to FETAC Level 5. Services provided by CareBright include palliative care, disability care/assisted living care, dementia and Alzheimer related care, respite care for families, convalescence care and post-operative care. A decision is due from the council in early March.
