Limerick students top the class
TWO Limerick students have been named in the top five per cent of accounting technicians in Ireland.
Lynn Shier from Dooradoyle, and Ilona Lule from Raheen, scored among the highest marks for the annual accounting technician exams.
Accounting Technicians Ireland has seen the numbers of students taking its qualification more than double in the last five years.
The organisation has more than 4,000 students and its syllabus is taught in more than 80 colleges nationwide, including Griffith College and the Limerick College of Higher Education.
Gay Sheehan, chief executive, Accounting Technicians Ireland, said: "We are delighted that so many students from Limerick did well in this year's exams. The Accounting Technicians Ireland qualification is a superb entry route into the accountancy profession. Our graduates are qualified to work in many different finance roles and there is always a strong demand for their skills in the marketplace."
