SHANNON Group Plc has this Monday confirmed the appointment of David McGarry as its chief financial officer.
Mr McGarry joins from Indaver Ireland and will take up his senior management role at Shannon in the new year.
He will be a key player as Shannon Airport is merged with the land assets of Shannon Development and as plans are advanced for the development of the International Aviation Services Centre around the airport.
“David will be joining the executive team at Shannon at an exciting and challenging time as we gear up for the new beginnings of the Shannon Group. We very much welcome the fact that we have someone of his calibre joining the team at this time,” said Shannon Group chief executive officer Neil Pakey.
Mr McGarry, who is a native of Cork, will commence working in Shannon in February.
“This is a great opportunity to be part of the executive team tasked with advancing the exciting plans for the Group in 2014,” he commented.
“I was attracted by the board’s vision and commitment and I am looking forward to leading the financial function, working with new colleagues and joining the senior management team in the new year.”
As finance director with Indaver Ireland &UK since 2008, Mr McGarry had responsibility for the finance, development, procurement and customer service functions.
Indaver is the company behind Ireland’s first municipal waste incinerator in County Meath and Mr McGarry played a key role in developing and managing that waste-to-energy project.
He has previously worked with Henley Partners, NCB Corporate Finance and KPMG.
