LIVERPOOL fans flocked to a Limerick city tattoo parlour this Thursday afternoon where star defender Daniel Agger spent four hours getting new ‘inkwork’ on his legs.

Daniel, who is good friends with the owner of Allstar Ink Tattoos on Wickham Street, Ross Nagle, visited the city especially to get the new design done by the renowned tattoo artist.

“You will see them one day,” smiled the Dane when asked by the Leader what exactly he had done.

“I don’t talk a lot about my tattoos but obviously everyone can see it.”

Ross, who has been friends with Daniel for over a year, explained that the star got two tattoos, one on the back of each calf.

“He got two hearts and daggers with mam and dad through it. He got one on each leg, on the back of his calves, the full length of his calves,” he explained.

While Ross hadn’t done any inkwork on Daniel previously, the football star described the Limerick man as “a good friend of mine”.

The 29-year-old Liverpool player travelled to Limerick following Wednesday night’s post-season friendly game against Shamrock Rovers in the Aviva Stadium, which they won 4-0.

Limerick, he said, was “good so far”.

“We had something to eat. It’s always nice to see so many Liverpool fans no matter where we go,” he said, as Reds fans lined up along the street outside to get their picture taken with the international footballer.

“I was in Dublin yesterday. I have to play two internationals with Denmark so I have to go back home.”

When asked how is he coping with Premier League disappointment which saw Manchester City pip the Anfield club to the title, he replied: “It is difficult but that is the past now. We have to look forward. It is a new season next season.”

Does he think he will be with the club next season?

“I hope so. It’s not my decision,” he said honestly.

One of the scores of youngsters who posed for photos - including selfies - with Daniel included Joseph O’Callaghan from Watergate, who said he was a huge Liverpool fan

“He’s my favourite player,” he smiled, heading home with his prized photograph.

Ross Nagle’s shop, which celebrated five years in business last year, teamed up with celebrity tattoo artist Ami James last year to open a business in Cork. The Miami Ink television star visited the Limerick shop in late August.

Allstar Ink has played host to high profile guest tattoo artists before, from Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez to Chad Koeplinger, and has four full time staff.
