Brian flying high after winning New York trip with Shannon Airport
SIMPLY keeping up with the news at Shannon Airport has landed one lucky Limerick man a shopping spree and a trip for two to New York.
Brian Collins, from Dooradoyle, is heading off to the Big Apple after being selected from 2000 people who entered a competition in Shannon’s first ever electronic newsletter.
Brian has now claimed the prize - total value €1200 - which includes flight tickets to New York, free car parking and use of the executive lounge at Shannon, and a €500 voucher for the airports newly redeveloped shopping area, The Loop.
“Brian won the voucher by answering the simple question ‘Where was the first US Preclearance facility established outside the Americas’? The answer, of course, was ‘Shannon Airport’,” explained an airport spokesman.
Shannon’s first e-newsletter was sent to around 8000 on-line subscribers in 32 countries in December.
Readership “very much mirrored the airport’s route network”, with the biggest number of non-Irish recipients in the UK and USA, the spokesman said.
The next issue of the newsletter will be distributed at the end of February and will feature another competition as well as the latest news from the airport, information on new summer routes and retail offers at the airport. To receive it, log on to www.shannonairport.com and click on the newsletter link.
The initiative has seen Shannon shortlisted as a finalist in the Government to Consumer Innovation category in the Nokia Digital Media Awards 2012.
