RACING at Limerick has got the green light to go ahead following a course inspection.

The hugely popular Shannon Airport Christmas Racing Festival kicks off today following Saturday’s cancellation due to waterlogging on the track after heavy rain falling in the last few days.

Race course manager Conor O’Neill tweeted: “Racing at Limerick goes ahead today with the first race at 12pm.”

A course inspection took place at 8am and the ground at Greenmount Park is heavy, but the meet will go ahead, with eight races going to post at 12pm including the Grade 2 Shannon Airport Novice Steeplechase.
