HUNDREDS of jobs will be on offer this Friday at a special fair in Thomond Park.
Jobs will be on offer in many different sectors including retail and information technology at the fair, which gets under way in Thomond Park’s conference facilities at 10am. It is open for four hours.
Organised by the Limerick Local Heroes, the Jobsfair and Careers Advice Event will provide an opportunity for companies to source suitable employees.
It will also give unemployed professionals the chance to meet with potential future employers.
Companies seeking staff include Vistakon, Premier Digital, UPC, Cook Medical and ALDI.
The Jobsfair will have representation from training organisations and education providers offering advice regarding courses and skills needed for specific career paths.
Free advice seminars & workshops delivered by industry experts will focus on key areas such as CV clinics, career planning, use of social media and job market status. These seminars and Workshops will be sponsored by ULearning Skillnet.
Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Gerry McLoughlin has given his backing to the scheme.
He said: “The event is an opportunity for local companies to show there are opportunities out there and for jobseekers the day will allow them to make contact with employers and offer the to potential to network and open doors to potential employment.”
Ronan O’Boyle, network manager of ULearning Skillnet, added: “The objective is to help companies and jobseekers, to find each other. It is also a platform for Limerick-based education institutions and organisations to meet individuals who wish to up-skill. Ultimately it will contribute to growing a strong employment base in the region.”
Talks include The Six Ways for Lifetime Employability, by Harmonics Founder John Fitzgerald.
There will be a five step plan to creating a Career Plan, while Pat Carroll, co-founder of social networking site Rendezvous 353 will advise on how to build your online presence.
Recruitment consultants CPL will also offer CV clinics throughout the day. All the stands have been taken up, with 45 companies set to be represented on the day.
