THE Limerick City Business Association and the Limerick Chamber will next Monday, September 16, host a meeting for local retailers in the Savoy Hotel.

The event, which gets under way at 7pm, has been organised to outline plans for the centre, following a recent designation by Retail Excellence Ireland.

Limerick has been named a national Pilot City by the group, and the meeting will address how this designation can benefit those doing business in the city and how retailers can play a part in its success. It will be chaired by Bobby Kerr of Insomnia Coffee Company.

Conn Murray, manager of Limerick City and County Council, said: “The overriding objective of this initiative is to deliver a more vibrant and engaging civic space for citizens to enjoy. Being selected as Pilot City will maximise the potential of all the positive developments currently taking place in Limerick. The designation will allow all stakeholders involved to work collectively to ensure the realisation of our shared vision and long term re-invigoration plan for our city centre”, he added.

Speakers at Monday night’s meeting will include Tom Enright, the council’s economic director, as well as Retail Excellence Ireland chairman David Fitzsimons, and Helen O’Donnell of the Limerick City Business Association.
