NEARLY 60 properties sold in Limerick this July, according to the latest figures from the Property Price Register.

The total value of houses sold across Limerick city and county last month amounted to just over €9.5m, while a total of 406 properties have sold to date this year in Limerick.

The number of sales for July is in line with figures for previous years, however 87 house sales were registered in July 2011, the highest for that month since the register began in 2010.

Among the most expensive houses to sell in the last month were in the Woodlands, Adare, for €560,000, Sunville on the North Circular Road for €500,000, and Somerton House in Crecora for €450,000. The parochial house in Pallasgreen sold for €360,000.

Two houses sold for substantially below that - with a property on the Shanabooley Road in Ballynanty Beg, and in Abbeyfeale selling for €20,000 apiece.

Sales in Limerick for this June amounted to over €5,180,000, down from €7,987,056 in May, while April’s sales stood at €5,594,000 and there was €4,965,575 worth of sales in March.

In all, this year’s sales amount to some €43m.
