limerick City Council has cleared the way for the Regeneration agency to begin a major housing project on the city’s southside, which will create over 70 construction jobs.

And a further 70 much needed jobs are being created on a similar housing project which has started in Cliona Park on the northside, bringing a total of 140 positions over the next seven months.

The City Council has given the go-ahead to the southside regeneration agency to begin the construction of a three-storey residential scheme for elderly people on a patch of land behind the LEDP.

The scheme, which will start in about six weeks’ time, will consist of 13 one-bed apartments, 21 two bed apartments and one caretakers apartment with a separate guest room.

Meanwhile, in Cliona Park, a similar scheme got under way in the last few weeks.
