A FOODIES Expo for the catering and food supply sector is expected to draw hundreds of industry professionals to the Strand Hotel this week.
The event, the second annual expo to be held in the city, will feature 50 exhibitors, a range of speakers and an array of artisan food, with experts on hand to offer advice to business people from across the region.
“The expo is geared at trade, at people who are providing services to hotels, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes - anybody who has a catering service that wants to talk to suppliers and get advice that might help them run their business,” explained event organiser Brid Fox of Cater Care Ltd.
Those manning stands at the event will include food service and product suppliers and companies, the Food Safety Authority, Patents Office and more, explained Ms Fox.
“There will be stands there so people can get information and advice on potential suppliers,” she said.
“There is a huge industry here in Limerick and we are seeing more people looking for training. This is an opportunity for people to get advice on how to run their business better.
“We found that people are looking for that advice and ways of doing business with local suppliers. There is an appetite to support local businesses as well as learning how to improve their business.”
In addition to the stands there will be guest speakers at the free event, which takes place from 3-6pm this Wednesday in the Strand.
Talks will take place on social media, food safety and customer care, while keynote speaker Padraig O’Maille from Galway will deliver an address on business management and organisation. LIT president Dr Maria Hinfelaar will also speak at the event, which is supported by Limerick City and County Enterprise Boards and Acist Skillnet.
