LIMERICK is to get a new bank next Monday in the shape of Belgian lender KBC.
The new bank is to open on O’Connell Street, beside the Brazen Head nightclub.
Preparatory works on the site have been ongoing for some weeks now, and the bank will open next Monday morning, in a move which will create 25 front-line jobs.
KBC Bank has said the opening will see a “new way of banking” coming to Limerick.
“The new hub moves away from the ‘high counters environment’ that is the traditional bank and is an informal, relaxed meeting space where customers can meet with KBC personal finance specialists,” a spokesman said.
KBC’s Limerick branch will be managed by former county hurler Damien Quigley.
The brand already has a presence in Limerick, with six people working in the Riverpoint complex.
But Monday’s opening will see KBC relocate to the city’s main thoroughfare.
The bank will open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5.30pm, with late opening on Thursdays until 7.00pm to facilitate customers working in the daytime.
The bank will offer products across savings, insurance and mortgages for customers.
