A DECISION over controversial plans to construct a bus lane on Ballinacurra Road was postponed by a week after a meeting of Limerick City Council was adjourned mid-weay through the agenda.

Dozens of residents from the Ballinacurra Road attended the meeting armed with their own presentation on why they feel bus lanes on the southside are a bad idea.

Due to the number of residents present, independent councillor Kevin Kiely suggested they discuss the plans before debating other items on the agenda.

Cllr Kiely’s proposal was rejected and the item, which was listed as item number 17 on the agenda, was not reached at the point when the meeting was adjourned.

It is expected that the proposals will now be debated next Monday.
