THE PUBLIC’S help is urgently sought to help return a missing autism assistance dog.

Toby, a Beagle X Bernese Mountain Dog, is feared stolen from his family in Castleconnell.

He is a companion dog to young Peter Meskell and was reported missing yesterday.

Peter’s mum, Nicola said they live just outside Castleconnell village, near Charco’s pub.

As Toby never wanders from home it is feared he was taken from the garden during Sunday night/Monday morning.

“The dog is on medication because he has an auto-immune disease so if he was stolen for hunting and hunted he is going to be very sick this morning.

“He is a very good looking dog so if he was stolen to be bred he is neutered. He is a companion dog for an autistic child,” said Nicola.

Toby is also microchipped. If by chance Toby has wandered away and you see the black, brown, white dog then please contact 061-214503.

Or if he was stolen Nicola appeals to the thieves to give him back due to his special connection to her son.

“If someone has taken him for whatever reason - if they thought he was good for hunting or for anything else he was particularly trained for this child,” said Nicola. Toby had 18 months of special needs training.

“He is particularly for this person. I have Toby’s medication - if they could leave him somewhere or contact someone as long as we get him back,” said Nicola.

If the dog has been sold on then the new owners are also asked to contact 061 214503 and return Toby to his rightful owners.
