FASHION retailers in the city are trying to curb the rise of out-of-town shopping by joining together ahead of the inaugural Ladies Weekend in October.
The mainstay of the weekend is the LimerickWomen’s Mini Marathon on Saturday, October 12, which has been going strong for 15 years. But a host of events, including a fashion trail with unique offers, a day at the races, and a night in Clohessy’s, are being built around the weekend.
“We believe we have the right to proclaim Limerick as the retail centre of the Mid-West region. With an internationally recognised school of art and design located right in the heart of the city we are perfectly positioned to continue to develop and promote new indigenous designers as well as attracting many of the leading international brands to our city,” said Fionagh Ryan, of Ryan’s Jewellers, on Roches Street.
The entry cost for the mini marathon is now €20, and will rise to €25 after October 4.
