RWANDAN artist Jean Ryan Hakizimana will host a new exhibition of his work this Friday night.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Uncovered’, features 20 paintings and they are all “masterpieces”, he says.

It includes nude, abstract and landscape paintings, of coastal scenes such as Lahinch, Ballybunion and Kilkee.

With many sell-out exhibitions in the past, he noted that nude portraits were often the first pieces to sell and decided to include more of these in his exhibition.

It will open this Friday, August 5, at 7pm in his art studio and gallery on the corner of Thomas Street and Catherine Street.

Demand for art classes at his centre has also been “phenomenal”, he said, with 66 pupils signed up.

Since coming to Limerick as a refugee, he began painting with intensity and is now one of the city’s much sought after artists and he has held some 20 exhibitions of his work.
