ADARE bride-to-be Sharon Casey needs some serious home support if she and fiancé Chris Ledwidge are to be in with a chance to win a wedding prize worth €30,000.

The couple are one of just four short-listed couples in the final vote-off in the wedding competition organised by Bash magazine, Ireland’s newest wedding magazine. And to win, they need to register the most online votes. “We are ahead on video views at the moment but it’s online votes that count,” Sharon told the Limerick Leader this week.

In fact, it was Sharon and Chris’s 60-second musical video entry which won them their place in the grand final. And to make this, they rigged up their own bandstand and recorded the duet, Anyone Else But You from the 2007 film Juno. “Chris is a music teacher and we both sing at parties,” Sharon explained. She herself is a promotions manager with TV3. (You can watch them in action on www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCBww3CVgJ0. )

Now, however, Sharon is appealing for Limerick voters to support them. A former pupil of Laurel Hill secondary school in Limerick, Sharon met future husband Chris, from Navan, Co Meath when they both began studying in Dun Laoghaire. They got engaged in August last when Chris surprised Sharon by serenading her in St Stephen’s Green Park, Dublin, before getting down on one knee and proposing.

Now living in Castleknock, both volunteer at a community radio station Phoenix FM where they have been involved in presenting programmes such as the Saturday afternoon programme, In Context and Artistic Licence, as well as helping with interviews and local election coverage.

As keen animal lovers, Sharon and Chris can often be found down at the local Ashtown Dog Pound where they help walk dogs that are waiting to be re-homed. The couple has even managed to re-home some rescue animals themselves, including two dogs, a kitten and more than 15 rabbits.

If you want to help Sharon and Chris win their dream wedding, you can vote online at www.image.ie/BASH/Wedding-Album/Sharon-Chris And you have until Valentine’s Day to do so. The winning package will include the venue at Fallon and Byrnes, food, drinks, the cake, photography and videography, flowers, suit rental, the band, the rings and the honeymoon suite.

“This was the wedding I would have planned for myself,” Sharon said of the Bash prize.
