A LIMERICK barber shop is taking on a Movember marathon challenge in order to raise €20,000 for charity.

A LIMERICK barber shop is taking on a Movember marathon challenge in order to raise €20,000 for charity.

Da Vinci Barber Shop on Thomas Street are taking on the challenge during in a bid to raise €20,000 for four Limerick based charities, culminating with a final shave off taking place on December 2 at 6pm in participating pubs.

The team are hoping to raise money for Milford Hospice, Pieta House, Cycle for Sick Children and Children in Hospital Ireland (Ark Unit).

Da Vinci Barber Shop owner Darran France says that he decided to organise the event as a way to give back to the community.

“We always get involved with Movember and this year we decided to set our own target for four very worthwhile charities,” he said. Participants are asked to grow a beard or moustache for the month of November or have their head shaved on Sunday, December 2.

Pubs taking part include Phil Flannery’s, Nancy Blakes, Locke Bar, The Library, Molly Malones, Bourkes Bar, Smiths Bar, Jerry Flannerys, O’Connells Bar and Clem Smiths.
