FOLLOWING a large number of requests, a DVD capturing Mike Tyson’s recent interview in Thomond Park has been produced.

‘Iron Mike’ visited the stadium in October, spending time meeting over 600 fans, before taking the stage for a 50 minute interview with RTE presenter Dara Maloney.

Now, after many requests from those who attended the sold-out event, a DVD has been released of Tyson’s knockout appearance in the Thomond Suite.

“There were a lot of requests for a DVD of Mike Tyson’s interview at Thomond Park so O’Donovan Productions have made one,” explained event organiser Mike O’Regan, the Cork promoter who, along with CWH Promotions in the UK, brought Tyson to Limerick.

“It is fantastic and features interviews with the other guests, as well as Mike’s 50 minute interview.

“I imagine I have seen all Mike’s interviews through the years and this is one of the best,” he added.

Tyson answered questions on his life, career, other boxers - referring to Katie Taylor as “something special” - without being pushed too far into the darker aspects of his controversial psyche.

“I just wanted to be a fighter,” he said. “I was never money orientated, I never knew I was going to live that long, I just wanted to have a good time. When you have all that money, you can live in your own fantasy, no-one is really your friend, it is a bad thing - but it was a lot of fun.”

The DVD is now on sale from Gleeson’s Sport Scene or 085-7449856 for €20. We have a copy to giveaway, simply email your contact details to competitions@limerickleader.ie
