Limerick sopranos to feature in Saint Mary’s Cathedral concert

THE Irish Youth Choir will give a concert in St Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick this Saturday as part of the choir’s 2011 season.

Eighty-two members of The Irish Youth Choir gathered with RTE’s Mary Kennedy and the President of the University of Limerick, Professor Don Barry this week in UL to launch the choir’s 2011 season which kicks off in Cork. 

“Despite the times we live in, we can have great hope for the future when we look at this gathering of talented young people who have come from all corners of the country and have gone through a rigorous audition process to get to participate in the Irish Youth Choir’s summer 2011 season,” said Ms Kennedy. 

The choir will perform at St Mary’s Cathedral ion Saturday, July 2.

The programme will consist of music spanning 600 years, under the direction of Irish Youth Choir artistic director and renowned young choral conductor, Greg Beardsell. Tickets are priced at €15. Call 061-331549 to book.
