Two sisters will represent Limerick in the upcoming Miss Teen Ireland and Miss Junior Teen Ireland events which will be held in the Greenhills Hotel and Leisure Centre.
Lisa and Amy McNamara, from Kilteely, will represent Limerick in the November competition at the Ennis Road hotel.
Both Lisa, 18, and Amy, 13, are competing for the first time and are excited about the prospect of representing Limerick.
“We both applied for the pageant on a website called ‘starnow’ where you can apply for competitions and modelling jobs, there are girls from all over Ireland (in the competition),” Lisa explained.
“The judges look out for a great personality, brain, self confidence and beauty,”
Lisa is also excited at the prospect of being in the event alongside younger sister, Amy, who is in the Miss Junior Teen Ireland competition.
“I am excited to have my sister competing in the competition with me because we both are very interested in fashion and beauty and competing together just makes it even more special,” said Lisa, who is starting at Limerick Senior College this month.
She is going to study Art and Design with Graphic Design at the college after receiving a distinction in the Leaving Cert Applied programme at the Youthreach in Hospital.
She describes both herself and her sister as being “fashionistas” – a term used to describe a person devoted to fashion clothing, particularly unique or high fashion.
Lisa hopes this event will open doors for her into the modelling industry.
“I have been interested in getting into the modelling industry since I was 15 and hope to some day be modelling part time,” she revealed, adding that her sister Amy is also interested in taking to the catwalk.
The keen sports fans are proud that now it is their turn to represent the city and county in this competition.
