WINTER fashion will be showcased like never before in Limerick with the staging of a unique fashion trail under the city’s Style Festival later this month.

The fashion trail will see 16 of Limerick’s leading retailers put style on the City of Culture map on Friday, October 24 as they host sequential fashion shows at their stores.

Between 10am and 4.30pm fashionistas will be treated to the very best of what’s on offer in Limerick’s stylish outlets as they join the fashion trail.

Teas, coffees, and in some cases a glass of bubbly will be on offer for customers as they make their way along the trail to take in the pop-up fashion shows.

Retailers will also be giving fashion tips, as well as special offers and discounts.

The fashion trail is one of the key elements of the three-day Limerick Style Festival, running from Wednesday October 22 to Friday, October 24, the high-point of which is the Limerick International Fashion Student Awards.

Spearheaded by Celia Holman Lee, the style festival will attract some of the world’s best young fashion designers to Limerick and a host of established industry names.

Students and representatives of some of the world’s leading design colleges will also travel to Limerick for the three-day extravaganza.

Included the in the list of well-known fashion names attending will be Valerie Campbell, mother of renowned international supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Valerie will be a special guest at the Limerick International Fashion Awards thanks to Social & Personal Magazine.

As more and more fashion graduates from Limerick make it to the world stage, Celia said: “Limerick will be an international cross-roads for some of the best up and coming fashion design talent in the world for three days so we really wanted to make the most of this by providing our retailers with a platform to promote their wares. That’s what the Fashion Trail is aimed at.

“With the economy starting to pick up and a lot of good news in Limerick on the jobs front of late, we are feeling a lot better about ourselves these days so it’s time for a little splurge I feel. The Fashion Trail will certainly be a fun way to go about that and we are expecting a really strong attendance on the day.

“It’s the year of culture for Limerick and fashion has always been huge in our culture so it’s only appropriate that we would be celebrating it with style this year.”

Retailers participating in the Fashion Trail are: Be Fabulous, Virginia’s, Vamp, Ivory Closet, In Vogue, Sinead’s, No. 15, Aimee’s, The Hub, Pamela Scott, Flax in Bloom, Zip Yard, Carraig Donn, Tippe Canoe, O’Donnell’s, Joli, AND Hugh Campbell Hair Group.

The student awards, which this year have received sponsorship from City of Culture, amongst others, will take place on Thursday, October 23 in St. Mary’s Cathedral, with the show limited to an audience of 300 people. Tickets are priced at €20.
