JEDWARD have made a dream come true for Adare teenager, Issey Fenton whose wish was to interview celebrities on the red carpet.
Now, following a whirlwind journey to London and a film premiere in Leicester Square, Issey’s dream achievement will be seen by the nation when it is broadcast as part of the television show OMG! Jedward’s Dream Factory on Christmas Day.
Issey, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Lucy Fenton, is still beaming after her “work experience” with Jedward, and is now more than ever convinced that her future lies in journalism and broadcasting. “I like writing and I make videos with my sister,” the Junior Cert student at Laurel Hill Colaiste revealed to the Limerick Leader this week.
It was this passion for telling a story that prompted her to contact the second season of the Jedward show, telling the twins that her dream was to interview celebrities on the red carpet.
Some weeks later, the show contacted Issey’s parents, telling them that Issey had been selected. They managed to keep the secret, Issey revealed, until the day before the already arranged flight to London last August. And Issey’s reaction to the surprise news has been captured on video and will be part of the television show. “I couldn’t say anything,” Issey recalled. The trip to London – accompanied by her mum and staying in a wonderful hotel – was brilliant. “At the hotel, there was massive banging on the door,” Issey continued. “John and Edward ran in. I was very surprised. They told us we would spend the day together, have lunch, go shopping, visit Big Ben.”
Later in the day, with a new dress specially bought for her, Issey got down to work. “The producer give me a suite of questions and I practiced on John and Edward,” Issey explained. Then it was off to Leicester Square and the premiere of Keith Lemon: The Film. “They gave me a list of celebrities,” Issey continued. These included Kelly Brook, David Hasselhoff aka The Hoff, John and Edward themselves and the star of the film, Keith Lemon himself, the controversial comedian and actor. “I was really scared,” Issey admitted. But she first interviewed one of the film’s co-stars, then the director Paul Angunawela and by the time she got to her list of celebrities, she was almost an old hand. “I almost missed Keith,” she added, but John and Edward helped her out. What they told her will remain under wraps until Christmas Day but all those she spoke to were lovely, she said. “It was fantastic for me to see my daughter do so well,” Lucy Fenton added. “It was a great experience for her.”
OMG! Jedward’s Dream Factory will air on RTÉ Two on Christmas Day and continue every day until January 4. The lads will also join the Munster rugby team and also go behind the scenes of hit TV show Mrs Brown’s Boys.
