ECLECTIC Waterford rockers O Emperor continue their return to the Irish music scene with a gig in Dolan’s this Friday night.

The band, who released one of the Irish albums of the year in 2010’s highly acclaimed Hither Thither, have been off the radar of late, spending most of the last 12 months recording material for their new album to be released next spring.

Just back from European tour, the Waterford five-piece are set for a string of dates on these shores, including a return to Dolan’s on Friday to mark the recent release of double A-side single Electric Tongues/Erman Gou.

The singles mark something of a departure for the band, who have echoes of Radiohead, Grizzly Bear and Midlake, fusing two distinct styles, Krautrock in the form of Electric Tongues and the more introspective, stripped down Erman Gou, fizzing with synths and sombre guitars.

Support at the gig comes from The Hard Ground.

Upstairs @ Dolan’s, Friday, November 9 @ 8pm. Tickets €10.
