A host of local causes are set to benefit from the Adare Garden Fete which takes place this year on Sunday, June 15.

A hugely popular event on the social calendar, the fete was first held in 1991 and has raise tens of thousands of euros for local charities.

This year, funds raised from the event will go to the Adare Day Care Alzheimer’s Centre, The Village Hall, Adare Community Fields Project, St. Nicholas’ Church and to Holy Trinity Abbey Church Restoration Fund, all of which will welcome the much needed funds.

This year’s fete promises to be another great family day out. Locals and visitors can look forward to a great afternoon of fun and entertainment.

Great bargains are always to be had in the various stalls which will be choc-a-bloc with a huge range of goods. Games and toys, sports jerseys and gear, new or unused shoes, handbags and fashion accessories, new or unused electrical items, home baking and home produce, jewellery and cosmetics, books of every description, dvds, top quality bric-a-brac, plants and shrubs are but some of the many treasures on sale on the day.

Children are welcome to the Garden Fete. There will be plenty of competitions and activities for them, including pony rides and a pets’ corner, bouncing castles and a kiddies’ corner. Parents can try their luck at the Wheel of Fortune and Bottle stand.

There will also be a blood pressure stand, while visitors can enjoy a cuppa and delicious food at the many food stalls, which include a Pig on a Spit, pancakes and many more delicacies.

The Monster Raffle has some really fantastic prizes this year including a€500 Voucher for Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort, two nights B&B for two in the Woodlands House Hotel, a dinner for two in the Dunraven Arms Hotel, dinner for two in the Wild Geese Restaurant, a €150 paint voucher from Irish Wire Products, and many more.

“We look forward to a huge attendance at the Garden Fete on the 15th June. All events will be located in the field at the back of the parochial house, entrance to which is by the side of the Dunraven Arms Hotel. There is ample free parking in the village, for all who attend,” said Anne Morden of the organising committee.
