After feasting on fine fare this Christmas Day, Limerick people can indulge themselves further in a feast of racing at their local track that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.

The Irish Independent four Day Christmas Festival at Limerick Racecourse takes place from Wednesday December 26 until Saturday December 29 and racegoers can enjoy some top quality racing in what the organisers promise will be a “great atmosphere”.

Limerick Racecourse are also teaming up with members of the IFA this Christmas period.

Members of the farming organisation who produce a membership card at the turnstile over any day from December 26 to December 29 can receive general admission at a reduced rate of €10 per person.

This is a fantastic event for all the family, according to Denis Griffin, Regional Development Officer of Limerick/Kerry IFA.

He explained: “It is a great opportunity for IFA members to get out and about during the festive season, while availing of this great discount ”.

Along with many package deals available, there is a Ladies Day Competition on Friday December 28. With a top prize sponsored by The Strand Hotel, this is a day the ladies of Limerick will not want to miss.

There will also be a Family Fun Day on Saturday December 29 in the Greenmount Grotto.

The Family Fun Day will have a live puppet show, childrens disco, face painting, balloon modelling, bouncing castles and much much more.

Children under 16 years of age can enjoy free admission to the races on all 4 days of the festival.

Turnstiles open approximately two hours before the first race on each day.

Live racing action begins each day from 12.30pm.
