A COCKTAIL of fashion and fun is being served up at the Clarion hotel over the next week allowing Limerick ladies an opportunity to feast their eyes on new designs while supporting local charities.
To coincide with the 10th anniversary of Limerick’s Clarion Hotel this month, a Pre-Lunch Cocktail of Fashion event is taking place over the coming week to increase footfall in the city while supporting several local charities.
“We decided to come up with the Pre-Lunch Cocktail of Fashion to attract people back into Limerick city. A lot of people are talking about it so we decided we would take action and do something,” explained model agent, Ursula Stokes, who is organising the fundraising fashion extravaganza.
The event, which kicked-off in the hotel on Wednesday will also see events take place next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Each morning a different fashion store or boutique in the city will showcase its latest autumn/winter collection and each day a different charity will be associated with the event.
The six chosen charities are the Lourdes Cycle, Milford Care Centre, Action Ireland Trust, the Children’s Ark, CARI and the Cliona Ring Foundation.
“This is about promoting Limerick city and giving people an opportunity to see what we have on offer in our lovely city. It is also about supporting businesses and most importantly it is about supporting local charities,” continued Ms Stokes.
“Guests can view the autumn/winter collections from the top fashion houses in Limerick while at the same time they can give a donation to the charities of their choice,” Ms Stokes added.
Each fashion show - which begins at 10.30am - will see models from the Ursula Stokes Model Agency take to the ramp in the hottest trends for the autumn/winter season.
Guests will also be able to enjoy complimentary teas, coffees and pastries while feasting their eyes on the latest fashion trends.
General manager of the Clarion Hotel, Ivan Tuohy, said they were thrilled to be involved in the fundraising event.
“We are celebrating 10 years this September and as part of those celebrations we decided to give something back to the community. We hope that by hosting this fashion event we can raise money for our chosen charities, ” said Mr Tuohy.
Tickets for the fashion events - which are being supported by the Chamber of Commerce - are free and can be obtained from the Clarion Hotel reception or from any of the shops taking part including Juniper,The Ivory Closet, Fashion House, Tippe Canoe, the Design Atelier and Pamela Scott.
The Clarion Hotel on Steamboat Quay will be providing car parking facilities for a special rate of €1 for guests.
“We will be holding a raffle for a weekend away at any Clarion Hotel and there will also be a series of spot prizes available,” Mr Tuohy added.
