Budding actors from Limerick are being sought for a new TG4 series - part of which will be filmed in Bunratty next week.

Independent production company Scannáin Nua Teo are looking for extras to feature in the follow up to their IFTA Award winning  historical documentary series ‘1916 Seachtar na Cásca’.

‘1916 Seachtar Anaithnid’ which will be broadcast on TG4 later in the year.

It is funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland through the Sound and Vision scheme.

The series focuses on seven men executed in Kilmainham, but who have been largely forgotten to history - Sean Heuston, Michael O’Hanrahan, John McBride, William Pearse, Michael Mallin, Con Colbert and Ned Daly.

Extras required for the series include adult men, women and teenagers.

According to the producers, anyone with experience using or handling guns are particularly encouraged to apply for extra roles in the series.

“Individuals with a look from the time will be greatly valued but facial piercings and visible tattoos would rule you out,” said a spokesperson for the production company.

Applicants are not required to have spoken Irish but again fluency in the language would be an added bonus.

The series began shooting in early June in Galway, Tuam and Ballinasloe and after Bunratty the crew will move to Dublin to finish filming at Kilmainham Jail and the Pearse Museum in Rathfarnham.

Any one interested in becoming an extra should email a picture of themselves with their details to 1916extras@gmail.com. Filming for the documentary series will take place in Bunratty Castle over two days on July 11 and 12.
