OVER 25 white collar boxers will take to the ring for a big fight night in aid of Adare GAA club in Limerick Racecourse next month.

OVER 25 white collar boxers will take to the ring for a big fight night in aid of Adare GAA club in Limerick Racecourse next month.

Adare GAA’s white collar boxing event, dubbed The Racecourse Rumble, will feature a host of well-known names from Adare and further afield.

The main event on the night will be the battle of the publicans with Big Al of Bill Chawkes bar taking on Shaughs of Lena’s bar, both in Adare.

Other parishes represented on the night include Croagh, Ballingarry, Cappagh, Knocklong, Athlacca and Holycross-Ballycahill.

“It promises to be one of the most anticipated and professional events Adare GAA has ever run with high profile boxers on the night including Alan Fitzpatrick, Conor Fitzgerald, and Billy Quinn. Inter-county footballing star Stephen Lavin also will take to the ring on the night,” said David Fitzgerald of Adare GAA club.

“Boxers will be amongst players, husbands, wives and parents who will all make a sacrifice and commitment to six weeks’ professional boxing training with Rathkeale boxing club. This training has been sponsored by businesses in the Limerick area in order to allow each boxer to be fully prepared and trained for the big event.”

Guests from all parts of Limerick are expected and further afield. The boxers set to take part include Alan Fitzpatrick, Barry O’Callaghan, Billy Quinn, Bob Cregan, Conor Fitzgerald, Conor Ryan, Donie Brosnan, Fran Murphy, Jackie Dawson, Jeff Lohan, Laura Hourigan, Lee Harrington, Neil Dunworth, Pa Healy, Paraic Aherne, Richard Fitzgerald, Richie O’Dea, Shane O’Donoghue, David O’Shaughnessy, Stephen Lavin, Thomas Wall, Timmy Houlihan, Tony Scanlon, Robert Kirwin, Aishling O’Flaherty and Pat Kinevaine.
