AHEAD of their much anticipated show at the upcoming Body and Soul festival in Ballinlough Castle, top Irish band Villagers have announced they are to play a warm-up show in advance of the festival with a visit to Dolan’s Warehouse.

The group - which revolves around the songs of frontman Conor J O’Brien - will be previewing new material from a forthcoming album that is in the process of being recorded.

Our spies tell us that O’Brien’s newer output is much rockier and more up-tempo, so it will be interesting to see how the songs measure up to those on the Mercury and Choice prize nominated Becoming a Jackal.

The band will play Dolan’s Warehouse on Saturday June 16.

Tickets priced €20 go on sale this Wednesday at 10am from Dolan’s Warehouse and Ticketmaster outlets.
