CORPUS Christi School in Moyross has secured a major coup with the news that award winning play Tom Crean: Antarctic Explorer will take place in the school hall next month.
The one man play - which charts the true stories of the Irish adventurer’s Antarctic explorations - is currently on a nationwide tour of Ireland, taking in Dublin, Killarney, Ennis and Roscommon.
But when it comes to Limerick City, it will be shown at no other venue, apart from Corpus Christi’s 200-seater new school hall.
Tiernan O’Neill, principal of Corpus Christi was delighted to land the play, which is written and performed by Adrian Dooley.
A joint initiative between Corpus Christi School, the Moyross Residents Forum and the Limerick Regeneration Agency, the play will come to the northside on Tuesday, November 8, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost €5.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to develop the arts in the general Moyross area. I think the beauty of this play is that it wont just appeal to local people, it will also appeal to the wider Limerick public as well. We would encourage people from all over the city and the county to come and see what will be a fantastic show,” Mr O’Neill told the Limerick Leader.
He said the play was possible thanks to a relationship the area has with Richard Ryan Promotions. Last year, they brought Dear Frankie to Moyross.
“But it is also thanks to the support of the regeneration agency that we have been able to secure such a high profile piece of theatre. It is a fantastic opportunity to see a piece of work which is world famous,” he added.
